Worship & the Arts Concert Series

Keeping each other safe during COVID
Please visit our homepage and specific ministry pages to see how we are adapting our shared ministry to this challenge.

Unfortunately, our December concert is cancelled. Please join us for a joyous Festival Service of Lessons and Carols on Thursday, December 24 at 8pm!

Performances in our sanctuary by the Bach Cantata Project have been a special joy for St. Thomas for years. Notwithstanding COVID-19, these dedicated scholar-musicians are still finding ways to share their gifts – you can read about upcoming projects and performances at their facebook page.

Worship & the Arts Concert Series
The Worship & the Arts Concert Series was established in 2003 and offers a variety of special music from our resident musicians, fine guest ensembles, and soloists. The choir offers concerts during December and in April. Student groups have offered Evensongs and hymn festivals. Guest musicians from outside Bloomington are brought in when they are available. All events are free and open to the public. The series is funded from fees for recitals held at St. Thomas and individual donations.

Worship and the Arts also serves as the contact point for local musical organizations to perform at St. Thomas. Mike Powell, our Director of Music, organizes the Spooktacular at Halloween with talent from the Jacobs School of Music organ department. The church is the venue for the Bach Cantata Project concerts – six a year –  in conjunction with IU and the Historical Performance Institute.

Here are posters from some of our past events.
