Back to School Blessing
During worship, we will bless all who return to school — students, teachers, administrators, and school staff. Stop in the narthex and create a backpack tag to remind them of this blessing through the year.
Collecting “Loaves and Fishes”
Return to school time for our youngest students coincides with the reading of the familiar story of Jesus and his disciples feeding five thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fishes. To mark this occasion the St. Thomas Mission Committee will be collecting foil packets or cans of fish and small packages of cornbread, biscuit, or muffin mixes. These items will be donated to Community Kitchen’s Backpack Buddies program and Pantry 279’s Food Bank. Items will be collected at church this Sunday, August 2 during both services.
